Wickham has village appeal
Paula Thompson takes a
closer look at one of the
county's most charming
villages, Wickham, and
finds plenty to explore
It is easy to while away an afternoon in
Wickham. The picturesque village in the
heart of the Meon Valley is set around an
unusual Medieval square where antique
shops rub shoulders with quaint bakeries,
traditional English tea rooms and elegant
Georgian architecture.
With its own water meadows, good eateries
and a network of clearly marked walks in the
surrounding countryside, Wickham is well
worth a visit.
And if you've got the time, an extended
stay means you can explore less obvious
attractions from the ancient Church of St
Nicholas to the award-winning vineyard.
